RadSafe Canada are looking for an experienced Radiation Protection Specialist for our growing team in the Port Hope area.

Radiation Protection Specialist Responsibilities :

  • Interface with client management
  • Ensure RP program functions as intended and is optimized
  • Notify client of any deficiencies in the RPP or associated SOP’s and provide recommendations for improvement
  • Designate and maintain a list of Nuclear Energy Workers (NEWs)
  • Deliver RP training
  • Ensure that personnel designated to perform RP activities are adequately trained and qualified as an RP technician
  • Determine the need for and implement, if needed, an internal dosimetry program
  • Participate in the investigation of unplanned events
  • Provide support to Apparent Cause Analyses (ACAs) or Root Cause Analyses (RCAs)
  • Provide support with the preparation of emergency procedures
  • Establish Dose Control Points (DCPs) for NEWs

Required qualifications.

  • Degree in (Health Physics, Science or Engineering)
  • Minimum of 3 years (36 months) experience in an operational radiation protection oversight role, ideally as a health physicist.
  • Knowledge and skills to provide oversight and advice on RP issues.
  • Pay rate dependent on experience. Per diem for qualifying candidates up to $750/week.
  • Hours; Monday to Friday 40-50hrs/week
  • Location: Port Hope, Ontario
  • Candidates must be a Canadian resident.
